New Book!

Good news! I have finally finished my new book, Prehistoric Pizza! If you or someone you know loves dinosaurs and pizza, you just might enjoy my story. You can find the paperback on Amazon.com, and hardcovers are slowly cropping up on major online retail platforms, such as Barnes and Noble, Walmart, and Bookshop.org. Your local bookstore can also order it for you.

If you read the book, I hope you enjoy it! That is why I write and illustrate.

Something special happened for me last week. . . I finally released my very first children’s picture book! I have been working on this for a very long time. Since 2018. It definitely proved to be a challenging experience since I had never done it before. I knew I wanted it to be good, so I made sure to take my time with the process. I attended online and in-person children’s book conferences and really dug in to learn everything that I could. So here it is! Skunk’s Party Surprise: A Sweet Counting Tale.

If you have little ones in your life, they just might love it. It’s about friendship, sweet treats, and counting from one to ten. It’s not just a counting book, but also has a sweet story woven in.

I’m so happy that it is finished. It was so much fun to create and imagine up this little story and it’s characters.

You can currently find it on Amazon.com. Just search for my author name or the title. Happy reading!

Crafts and Projects for You

Valentine Postcards for You!

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, so I created a free printable for you to use! I hope you enjoy these Valentine postcards; feel free to give them to your friends, family and the ones you love most in life!

You can print and use as they are, or you can get really creative and embellish them with glitter…lace…the options are endless! Enjoy! Print instructions are below…

With Love,

Mellie

*Printing Instructions*

  • Select and print the front image of the postcards.
  • Place printed pieces of paper directly back into the printer’s paper tray in the same direction as they came out of the printer after printing (try to say that three times fast!).
  • Select the postcard’s back image and print.
  • Voila! A fully printed postcard on the front and back!

Card stock works wonderful for printing these and is sold most places that have paper. If you don’t have any card stock on hand and you’re in a pinch, I have been known to print on regular paper and have used double-sided tape to stick onto another piece of paper to make it a bit more sturdy!

My Projects

~Mellie Beane, on the Scene!~

I am very happy to announce that I have started a YouTube channel!

I suddenly decided that it might be a good idea, and it also might be kind of fun too. As I started to think about what I could actually DO on my channel, I scoured my mind for ideas and things that I was good at.

And finally I decided…

I would start a drawing channel for kids! Of course, for all those adults too, who want to learn how to draw cute and fun things.

It actually makes me feel really good to share what I know with you, and I am really enjoying making all the videos. There has definitely been a learning curve, seeing how I knew absolutely nothing about editing video or transferring files, and yadda yadda…but I’m working on it! I have lots of plans for the future!

Without further ado…a video!

Fun Stuff

~When Bugs Dance~

I might be a person who regularly listens to Burl Ives.

I also might be a person who enjoys the thought of bugs doing “people things.”

When I was a kid, I watched the movie Summer Magic, I don’t know how many times. I loved it, but most of all, I loved this little song.

Enjoy! I hope it makes your heart happy.

My Projects

~Art and Soul~

I am starting this blog, because I have decided to follow a lifelong dream. A dream that grew from being a child who drew simple drawings, decorated them with glitter glue, wrote a few words to go along with them, and stapled those papers together.

Simple books, made by a young girl.

Years went by, life happened, and that girl forgot about those pictures and words…for a while, but not forever.

Needless to say, it has felt like the time to create, to start creating those “heart stories,” to make them come “alive.” I love to paint, and I love to make up stories. SO, I have started creating my first real picture book.

This blog is going to be a creative outlet for me. A place for me to create an environment for myself, and for anyone else who wants to join me in my adventure! A place for me to share things that inspire me, pique my interest, and spark a soul with joy.

Thank you for visiting; I hope you enjoy my heart and the work that I do.
